Qualifications
The pathway to working in finance related roles and becoming an Accountant involves a combination of formal education and on-the-job training and experience. In some businesses the role of an Accounts Support role may be incorporated alongside other accounts and administrative duties. However, for larger and more structured organisations it may assist you to gain the following certifications and qualifications:
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Business
- Diploma or Certificate IV in Accounting
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting and Finance
- Working towards a CA or CPA qualification
- BAS Agent Registration
- 2+ years experience in your industry
- 2+ years experience of the industry or company
Most roles will require you to have at least 2-5 years experience and relevant experience with the finance software used by that organisation. You may be undertaking tertiary qualifications with a longer term goal to pursue a career in Accounting.
