Information Technology (IT) Consultants are technology strategists who help organisations improve their use of computer systems. They analyse an organisation’s technological requirements, limitations and current capabilities to develop IT strategies that support business goals.
It is possible to work as an Information Technology Consultant without formal qualifications; however, tertiary qualifications may be an advantage.
Complete a bachelor degree majoring in Information Technology. This is usually a three–year course of study.
Consider completing postgraduate study such as the Master of Information Technology. This is usually a two–year course of study.
Join the Australian Computer Society (ACS) while studying.
Develop your expertise in a hands–on IT role such as System Administrator or IT Manager.
