Careers Consultant / Advisor
Put simply, Careers Consultants help people manage their career paths, provide advice about employment, training and career progression to professionals, executives and people looking to change careers. They help people to understand and develop their skills in order to make career and education decisions.
Holding a qualification in a related field is an advantage to becoming a Career Development Consultant, particularly if you would like to seek membership with a professional body.
Consider completing a Certificate IV in Career Development through a registered training organisation. This is the entry-level qualification for the career development professional in Australia.
Alternatively, choose an undergraduate qualification in a field of study related to career development. These include: education, human resources, coaching, psychology, counselling, human services, management, social science, sociology and training and development.
Consider pursing further career development education at a postgraduate level.
